Twitter Strategies for Entrepreneurs: Research Using Favorites
The following article was provided by Dean Guadagni, follow deansguide on Twitter
Twitter is one of the most robust resource for links, ebooks, pdf, and information available to any entrepreneur, job seeker, or business person today. I use Twitter for 85% of my content research for both of my blogs deansguide and innerarchitect. One of the best strategies once you have found your nuggets of information is to use the “Favorites” option on your Twitter home page.
Favorites: Location
Favorites is found on the right side bar beneath the “Direct Messages” section and above the “Search Box” area that allows Twitterers to search the site for keywords.

tutorials | Comments (2)Why We Tweet - BusinessWeek
You know you’re doing something strange and new—or at least new—when every time you’re at a social gathering, the activity comes up and the barbs come out. “Why do you waste your time with such nonsense?” people ask. And so it is with Twitter, the social-networking thingamajig that we both recently adopted with a degree of enthusiasm that surprises our friends and family and, well, even us.
But the fact is, over the past few months, we’ve come to love Twitter. We’re not saying it’s going to transform humanity—as some of its proponents will tell you—but we certainly get its incipient power. Indeed, if Twitter continues to expand at its current rate, it may well become a high-value way for companies to help brand themselves and microtarget consumer groups, as well as another tool for managers to interact with their people, and vice versa.
But Twitter’s business potential doesn’t explain why we tap away in 140-character bursts every so often. O.K., like three or four times a day.

philosophy | Comment (0)Six Ways that Google Wave is Going to Change Your Business, Career and Life
Google recently announced their most ambitious project to date called Google Wave. According to Google, Wave is “what email would look like if it was invented today.”
If you haven’t made time to watch the one hour video, I’d highly recommend you do so today.
What’s the big deal?
I believe there are six reasons why Wave is going to have a huge impact on you. However, this is all predicated on mass adoption of the technology. If no-one uses it, then obviously it won’t have a world-changing affect. However, I strongly believe Wave is going to achieve mass adoption for these reasons:
1. Google has the world-wide audience necessary.
2. Google has the cash in order to market Wave and promote its benefits.
3. There is a huge financial benefit to working more efficiently. People who use Wave will be able to work faster, thus leaving behind those that stick to good-ol-fashion SMTP email.
4. Wave is open-source (more on that below). If you want, you’ll be able to run Wave on your internal corporate network, without ever sending a single byte of data to Google.
5. You can run it on the cloud, thus reducing in-house IT costs.

Who says you can only have one Twitter account? You have (at least) two emails, don’t you? One for work and one for your personal stuff? Or phone numbers - one for the office and one for you cell? Why not have two Twitter ID’s?
As Twitter continues to grow, more and more people will find a need for multiple handles. Usually, it’s a case where your mom doesn’t care about what’s going on in the tech world. She does want to see the photos of your kids on Flickr, though!

tools | Comment (0)How Do You Explain Twitter To A Newbie?
Trying to explain Twitter to the uninitiated can be a challenge. Twitter is so new, so different, and used in so many ways, it’s difficult to wrap your arms around it. I’ve come up with a couple of metaphors that seem to get the point across pretty well - I’ll share them in a sec.

There are endless ways to use Twitter: from posting what you’re doing, to sharing links, to organizing fundraising drives. But did you know there are also a growing number of games you can play on Twitter?
Although many of the Twitter-based games listed here are quiz or trivia-based Twitter accounts, they are still fun distractions, and sometimes a good brain exercise. Here are some of the top games based on the microblogging site:

tools | Comment (0)Twitter Tool Review: Less Friends
As Fredrickus mentioned the other day, there are many reasons why someone will follow you on Twitter. Many revolve around the fact that you followed them first. But what if there is a sizable discrepancy between the people you follow and the people who have followed you back? Assuming that you are publishing great tweets on a regular basis (and thus there isn’t a good reason for the lack of reciprocation), one tool you should check out is Less Friends, by the awesome Ruby on Rails developers at Less Everything.

tools | Comment (0)How To Backup Your Twitter Archive
With the Twitter fail whale popping up all the time, you never know when something tragic might happen. No one want to lose all of their Twitter tweets, followers, or anything else for that matter. That’s why it’s a good idea to backup your Twitter archive on a regular basis in case of a Twitter mishap. As we all know, there has been numerous times in the past where users have lost followers, tweets, and DMs. Fortunately, you can make sure this doesn’t happen to you by using one of the following methods to backup your Twitter archive.

tools | Comment (0)Yahoo Makes A Twitter Clone…In Portuguese
Yahoo Meme seems to be an exact clone of Twitter. Once you attach a user name to your meme, you are allowed a description of a minimum of 100 characters. Similar to Twitter, you can search for users and follow others. You can write text and include links to photos, video, and music. Like Twitter, you are restricted to messages with only 140 characters. Ruiz writes that the search on Yahoo Meme is still limited.
Yahoo’s admiration for Twitter begun when it recently developed Sideline, an Adobe AIR-powered desktop Twitter monitoring application. Perhaps admiration turned to envy and Yahoo decided to test out its own full-fledged microblogging service? But why in Brazil? Good think we have readers there keeping on top of things.

Uncategorized | Comment (0)How Many Users Does Twitter Have?
Twitter is without a doubt one of, if not the fastest growing web application that we have seen. Just one year ago very few people were using or talking about it, and now it is all over the place, with mainstream celebrities joining it every day.
But how big is Twitter? How many user accounts are there?
That is a question that many have been asking, with no official answer yet.
One way that we have to estimate that number is based on the unique user ID that each account has. You can see that number by browsing over the URL of the RSS feed of a specific account.
